Yoyotech 2022 Review

2022 has been a phenomenal year for Yoyotech – it’s seen us grow and evolve as a major UK esports brand. Throughout the year we're been through rebrands, content overhauls, various partnerships, and changes in our team as well as numerous arena builds and projects. Yoyotech finishes the year stronger, smarter, and better than ever! A market leader, ready to forge forward into everything that 2023 challenges us with.

Learning Curve

We got 2022 off to a strong start with BETT22. With our flagship esports arena opening at Queen Mary’s College the year before, we were primed to take this opportunity to make a big splash at BETT. With the focus on getting onto the radar of every school looking at implementing esports into their curriculum. We were so delighted with the engagement from visitors and the BETT event that we immediately committed to the next one. We see esports booming, and know that BETT, like Yoyotech is growing, expanding and improving. Bring on BETT UK 2023!

Great Partnerships

Shortly after BETT, we traveled up the country, all the way to Newcastle to carry out our first arena installation of the year. The arena at Newcastle United Foundation was a testing ground for this generation of Yoyotech arenas using our new desk design. Other than a few refinements to make the desks cheaper and easier to install, this design has worked so well we’ve currently using them in every arena going forward.

Another exciting win from this year was our partnership with Excel Esports. This was a dream come true for the team as we’ve really been able to break into the professional esports scene, making friends and connections that would lead to some incredible projects later down the line. One of the first acts of this partnership was our weekend at Insomnia 68. We had the pleasure of attending this event alongside Excel as they used our PCs for their community tournaments during the event. It was great to see our machines in action as the Excel community put them to the test in competitive matches and it was an absolute blast to be involved!

Our largest esports venue yet!

With a year full of arena designs and installations, ordinarily, it would be tricky to pick one that stands out as being our best work. However, with one project four times the scale of any of our other builds, the Gametech Campus at Media City Salford was particularly memorable. A massive esports facility, this is our pride and joy – challenging and gratifying in equal measures.  You can read all about this build in a previous blog post that goes into detail of each stage in the delivery process of this arena.

Top of the League in 2023?

So, what has 2023 got in store for Yoyotech? We have an abundance of installations and new arena formats already planned for 2023 and a whole lot more in the pipeline. We have new partnerships underway that will reimagine the gaming arena space as well as builds that are like nothing we’ve ever done before. 2022 was a massive step up from 2021 for Yoyotech, but we’re confident that this trajectory is propelling us to the top of the league in 2023.
