FOOTBALL CLUB ESPORTS FOUNDATIONS
FROM THE PITCH TO THE PC
How Plymouth Argyle Community Trust partnered with Yoyotech to build a state-of-the-art esports facility.
COMMUNITY FIRST
THE VISION
The challenge was unique: create a high-performance tech environment inside a multi-use community facility. Located within The Hub at Foulston Park, this project was part of a massive redevelopment to transform the former Brickfields Sports Centre into a beacon for local wellbeing.
The goal wasn’t just a gaming room. It was to create a “friendly, safe, and welcoming space” that sits alongside soft play zones and gyms, yet provides rigorous academic pathways. This is the second full esports arena located within a football club in the UK, marking a significant shift in how sports foundations engage with youth culture.
Esports is more than just gaming—it is about education, teamwork, career development and social connection.

THE BUILD
MAXIMISING THE SPACE
We know that community spaces need to be versatile. Working alongside Strategic Esports Group and structural engineering sponsor Babcock, Yoyotech delivered a turnkey solution that maximized the available footprint without compromising on power.
We designed and installed a suite of 20 high-spec gaming stations equipped with the latest technology. By handling the high-performance hardware supply and sponsorship, we ensured The Hub could offer professional-grade experiences from day one—whether for casual “pay-and-play” sessions or competitive tournaments.
THE VALUE OF ESPORTS
ONE SPACE, MANY USES
The true power of this arena lies in its partnership with City College Plymouth which highlights the versatility of a Yoyotech arena as a multifunctional community hub.
Community Access & Revenue
Unlike standard classrooms that sit empty after 3 PM, this arena is a revenue-generating asset. It offers "pay-and-play" recreational gaming for the public and serves as a unique venue for esports-themed parties and events, making it becomes a profit center.
Academic Partnership
During core hours, the space functions as a serious learning environment. In partnership with City College Plymouth, it delivers British Esports-approved BTEC qualifications, teaching leadership, business, and digital media skills.
Inclusive Youth Engagement
As a dedicated youth zone, the arena captures the "invisible" student. It provides a safe, welcoming alternative for young people who may not engage with traditional physical sports, fostering social connections and mental wellbeing,
